China Airlines Ltd. : Garuda Indonesia Signs Agreement with China Airlines

Denpasar, May 10, 2012 - In line with ongoing efforts to
develop its flight network as well as enhance service quality
and give added value to its customers, PT Garuda Indonesia
(Persero) Tbk and China Airlines signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the Conrad
Hotel in Denpasar - Bali. The signatories of both parties
were PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk President & CEO,
Emirsyah Satar, and President of China Airlines,
Huang-Hsiang Sun.
The MoU covers several cooperations in various areas,
including cooperation of both passengers and cargo.
PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk President & CEO, Emirsyah
Satar explained that besides broadening Garuda Indonesia's
network expansion, the agreement offers customers of both
airlines with a wider choice of travel to destinations served
by Garuda Indonesia and China Airlines. "Of course, the
agreement will reinforce cooperations that already exists
between our two companies" added Emirsyah.
Meanwhile, China Airlines' President, Huang-Hsiang Sun,
expressed his hopes that this agreement will enable both
airlines to augment the quality of their service as well as
create opportunities for the companies' future growth.
"Moreover, Garuda's success in carrying its business
transformation truly reflects its readiness to join us in the
SkyTeam" added Huang-Hsiang Sun.
The codesharing agreement between Garuda Indonesia and China
Airlines covers the following routes: Taipei - Jakarta
- Taipei, Taipei - Denpasar - Taipei, and the Taipei
-Singapore- Surabaya v.v. route. In the future, the
cooperation will be further developed to include other
destinations, such as Los Angeles, San Fransisco, and Dubai.
Previously, Garuda Indonesia and China Airlines have already
shared codesharing agreements for passenger as well as joint
freighter agreement for cargo. In addition, Garuda Indonesia
and China Airlines will continuously be working on the
"Frequent Flyer Program" partnership, providing more
flexibility and value-added services for both members.
