China CNR : CNR’s modern tram running in the "roof of Africa"

    On August 26, the first fleet of 70% low-floor tram developed by CNR Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd to Ethiopia is getting off the production line in Changchun China. "Made in China" modern trams will be operated in the "roof of Africa", for service in Ethiopia and sub-Saharan Africa urban rail transit lines. And it is also China's first "Highland tram".

    The 70% low-floor tram door at the distance from the floor to platform is less than 35 cm, easier for passengers to boarding. Three vehicles grouping one fleet, maximum operating speed of 70 kilometers, it can also be operated in dual driving system. It will be operated in Addis Ababa the capital city of Ethiopia.

    Under the contract, CNR Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd will provide Ethiopia with 41 trams before the January next year.
