On April 13, a delegation headed by Chinese Ambassador to Angola Cui Aimin and counselors Xia Yuming and Liu Jizhou visited the site of the SOYO combined-cycle power plant project and gave their regards to all members of the project office. The ambassador said that he had communicated with the Angolan government for several times before the trip, and decided to make the power plant a major destination for his visit to Soyo since the government had reiterated the significance of the power plant to the development of the country.
After learning that the project office has not only offered jobs but also took such actions as donating water purification devices to local government, repairing roads for free and providing local people with loans, the Ambassador recognized CMEC for the social responsibilities that it takes for the local area, and hoped CMEC to continue to make efforts in this regard, making greater achievements and winning good reputation.
The delegation was very satisfied with the project, saying that, as one of the few large-scale power plants in Africa, the SOYO combined cycle power plant project is not only a boilerplate project of Angola, but also a masterpiece of China's overseas electric power construction. The ambassador urged every employee at the project site to serve as 'unofficial ambassador' for Chinese and China's projects.
