China Machinery Engineering : President Zhang Chun Attends CMEC Overseas Power Plant Scientific Research Activity

On July 11, CMECoverseas power plant industrialization and integration scientific researchactivitywas successfully held in Wuhan. CMEC President Zhang Chun attended the activity and made a keynote speech.

The scientific research activity was initiated by CMEC andjointly implemented byprofessional organizations in the EPC power industry, including Central Southern China Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd.(CSEPDI), Dongfang Boiler Group Co., Ltd. of DongfangElecric Corporation, Dongfang Turbine Co., Ltd. of DongfangElecric Corporation, China XD Group, Engineering Construction Company under Hubei Hongyuan Power Engineering Co., Ltd., as well as CMEC International Commercial TransportationCo., Ltd., CHPIand Jiangsu Power affiliated to CMEC. The scientific research project is coordinated by CSEPDI. The responsible persons of the above companies attended the event.

Zhang indicated in his keynote speech that, against the backdrop ofthe new situation of 'Belt and Road' and the complicated conditions of the industrial market, CMEC's all overseas EPC business development requiresproduct and technologyinnovations. System integration, design modularity and industrialization are the trends of overseas electric power construction and development in the future and necessary factors for enhancing the competitiveness of CMEC in international upscale markets.

Zhang further pointed out that, the project is intended for promoting the transformation and upgrading of overseas power plantsthrough innovative practices of 'standardized design,industrialization, intensive transportation, modular construction as well asintelligent operation and maintenance', aiming at 'reducing onsite work quantity, shortening construction period, reducing construction costs and improving construction quality'. It will effectively promotecomplementing each other's advantages and technical sharing between CMEC and its partners, strengthen strategic cooperation and competitiveness of all interested parties in the international electric power engineering market.

Zhang put forward expectations and requirements on the scientific research cooperation. He noted thatwe shall fully mobilize the researchers, give full play to their respective technical and resource advantages, cooperate sincerely with each other in innovative researches, so as to gradually create a complete system for industrialization and integration and increase the overall efficiencyon the basis of ensuring both applicability and economic efficiency.

During the activity, CMEC Vice President Fang Yanshui and heads of all partners signed a Framework Agreement on Scientific Research Cooperation for Industrialization and Integration ofCMECOverseas Power Plants, General Manager Assistant Li Baolin and CSEPDI signedthe Commission Contract for Scientific Research Projects, andCSEPDI General Manager Liu Jing and commissioned parties of all sub-projects under the scientific research project signed scientific research contracts for sub-projects.

Also participated in the activity were Vice President Fang Yanshui, Vice President Tong Zigang and Assistant President Wang Weiling, Assistant President Li Baolin, Assistant President Zhang Zhiliang as well as responsible persons of relevant functional departments and business divisions.
