CMHI¡¯s Presence at Transpacific Maritime Conference (TPM Long Beach 2014)

Reaching "34 terminals, operating in 27 cities, across 12 countries", twofold growth in throughput levels against the Year 2012, inauguration of the Colombo International Container Terminal (CICT), completion of a 49% acquisition of Terminal Link, and further development in the African market in the Year 2013 has earmarked China Merchants Holdings (Intl.) Co. Ltd (CMHI)'s success in its overseas expansion business strategy. Upon its 7th consecutive sponsorship and participation at the 14th Annual Trans Pacific Maritime (TPM) Conference held in Long Beach, California, CMHI has attracted the international shipping community's attention towards the trend it is setting in the global terminal operator, developer and investor playing field.

TPM Long Beach is a highly anticipated forum for the global container shipping community organized by the Journal of Commerce (JOC). It addresses major challenges faced by the industry, and discusses solutions, insights, and guidelines to enable formulation of strategies for the year ahead. It was held from the 2nd to the 5th of March 2014 at the Long Beach Convention Centre & Hyatt Regency Long Beach, California, USA, and attended by around 2,000 of the world's most senior international logistics professionals. Noteworthy topics of discussion included a look into the benefits of P3 and G6 ¨C the recently formed mega-alliances, as well as industries' search for lower-cost production grounds. Mr. Fredrick W. Smith, Chairman/CEO, FedEx Corporation delivered the keynote speech.

A delegation comprising of participants from CMHI and its major business units including Chiwan Container Terminal (CCT), Colombo International Container Terminals (CICT), China Merchants Bonded Logistics (CMBL), Shekou Container Terminals (SCT), as well as Terminal Link (TL), a JV between CMHI and CMA CGM, hosted the ¡®Welcome Hospitality Reception' on Sunday the 2nd of March, to share achievements and mingle with fellow delegates. It was a joyous occasion filled with networking and laughter. It was clear that the US market was more aware of CMHI's global presence as we continued to receive positive feedback from peer terminals and shipping lines at the conference, regarding recent strategic moves.
