POSITIVE PROFIT ALERT

This announcement is made by China Merchants Port Holdings Company Limited (the "Company", and together with its subsidiaries, the "Group") pursuant to Rule 13.09(2)(a) of the Rules Governing the Listing of Securities on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited and the Inside Information Provisions.

The board of directors of the Company (the "Board") wishes to inform shareholders and potential investors of the Company that the Group is preliminarily expecting to record an increase of profit for the six months ended 30 June 2018 by more than 50% as compared with the same period last year. The expected increase in the interim results of the Group was primarily attributable to the expected net gain of approximately HK$3,882 million that will be recorded in the consolidated statement of profit or loss of the Company from the disposal of its entire interest in Shenzhen Chiwan Wharf Holdings Limited, details of the transaction are set out in the announcement and the circular issued by the Company dated 5 February 2018 and 1 March 2018, respectively.

The information contained in this announcement is only based on the preliminary assessment of the unaudited management accounts of the Group and is not based on any information or figures which have been audited or reviewed by the Company's auditors. Detailed financial information of the Group for the six months ended 30 June 2018 will be published in August 2018.
