On November 1st local time, China Southern Airlines signed the United for Wildlife Transport Taskforce Buckingham Palace Declaration in London, UK. The endorsement is a formal announcement of the company's commitment to the fight against illegal transportation and trade of wildlife and their products. Initiated and advocated by the United for Wildlife, The Declaration aims to strengthen cooperation among industrial sectors, government authorities, and animal welfare organizations to stop illegal trade and smuggling of endangered wildlife and their products around the world.

Also on the day's agenda was the meeting of the United for Wildlife Transport Taskforce.

The Duke of Cambridge attended the signing ceremony as the sponsor and leader of the United for Wildlife and appreciated China Southern's signing of The Declaration and the company's contribution and effort in wildlife protection. The Duke also said that he looked forward to seeing China Southern assuming a greater role in the promotion of wildlife protection in China and attracting more Chinese airlines to become new signatories to the Declaration and form a joint force to contribute towards the elimination of illegal trade of wildlife and their products.

The Buckingham Declaration included 11 commitments, including enhancing passenger, client, and staff awareness on illegal wildlife trade, promoting The Declaration and relevant commitments within the sectors, strengthening corporation with organizations involved, providing information on illegal carriage of wildlife and their products, reinforcing staff training on the detection, identification, and report of illegal wildlife trade, etc. The Declaration calls for actions from the transport sector to support the prevention of illegal trade of wildlife and their products.
