China Unicom Launched Gigabit Mobile Network & High-speed Rail Theatre

Gigabit mobile network, and by

using the

high-speed rail as the platform, to enable passengers on Hainan Island-looping high-speed rail to

watch the live ceremony with Virtual Reality video experience through broadcast technology as if they were present at the event venue.

As China's first operator to launch Gigabit mobile network, China Unicom leveraged a variety of

integrated technologies including carrier

polymerisation, high-order modulation, higher-order

MIMO

and others, and through three-carrier aggregation, 256-QAM and 4*4 multi-antenna

transmission, to achieve significant enhancement of data transmission speed on the existing 4G network, paving the way for 5G development. Currently, China Unicom's Gigabit mobile network in over 20 key cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Haikou are ready for commercialisation.

China Unicom is also the world's first operator to successfully rollout LTE multicast platform under the high-speed rail scenario, achieving smooth high-speed experience with high-definition content and Virtual Reality services without buffering on the network, and thus enabling China Unicom's high-speed rail theatre initiative.
