Chorus has today advised that a technical fault, relating to capacity, with hardware at our Mayoral Drive facility means that we are currently having issues with provisioning new fibre connections and changing fibre plans in parts of Auckland.

The fault relates to the ability to provision new fibre connections, not congestion caused by use of the network.

We are working closely with Retail Service Providers to explore options to use alternative hardware while we further investigate this issue. Fibre installations that are scheduled for today in Auckland will go ahead as normal.

There is no impact to customers on copper broadband , or any customers who are currently connected to fibre. Resolving the fault is being given the highest priority and we are working with suppliers to resolve the issue.

The root cause remains under investigation and there is no estimated fix time at this stage while we work through our options.
