Chorus has today provided an update on its fault restoration performance update for the week ended 5 August 2016.

'Average restoration time showed a small improvement to 57 hours during the week, despite an increase in incoming faults relating to some difficult weather conditions such as lightning and other storms around the country,' said Ed Beattie, GM Infrastructure.

'The network also has held up well during the weekend's heavy snowfalls, with no major network outages, however we expect to see an increase in reported faults related to the snow over the next couple of days.

'Improving the average restoration time to 48 hours or less remains Chorus' key focus.'

Chorus and its service partners are also continuing to recruit technicians, with VisionStream currently processing more than 200 applications in various stages of the recruitment pipeline.

'While not all of those applications will be suitable, and they are at various stages in the recruitment and training process, we are confident we will be able to keep adding to our technician workforce as the year progresses,' he said.
