Chubu Electric Power would like to announce that commercial operations for Shin-Kuhshihara Hydroelectric Power Station (Ena City, Gifu Prefecture) has started today. The station has been under construction since May 2014.

Shin-Kuhshihara Hydroelectric Power Station is a newly established station that uses regular water flow release, and is located on the right-hand bank directly below our Yahagi No.2 Dam. The station will generate electricity by effectively leveraging the regular water flow release that previously had been discharged from the dam.

Hydroelectric power is one of the few energies fully produced within Japan. Given that it also is a renewable energy with exceptional environmental characteristics, Chubu Electric Power will press ahead with its development in a group-wide manner while continuing to pay due considerations to its economic efficiency.
