Chubu Electric Power today signed an 'Agreement to Ensure the Safety of Municipalities Neighboring Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station' ('the Safety Agreement between the prefecture and seven municipalities') with Shizuoka Prefecture and communities located within the Hamaoka.

Ever since being requested from the communities on March 28, 2014 for negotiations on signing an agreement to ensure the safety of municipalities neighboring Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station, our company has been engaging in talks with Shizuoka Prefecture and the concerned parties alike in a sincere manner. Our discussions proved to be worthwhile as we managed to reach a consensus on the content of the agreement.

Details of this new 'Safety Agreement between the prefecture and seven municipalities' is predicated on and defers to the prescriptions arranged in the 'Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station Safety Assurance Agreement', which was settled between Chubu Electric Power and Shizuoka Prefecture along with communities including Omaezaki City, Makinohara City, Kakegawa City, and Kikugawa City. The new Agreement is intended to ensure the safety for the regional environment of the relevant seven municipalities by functioning in step and in coordination with the framework laid out by the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station Safety Assurance Agreement.

As we enforce this new Safety Agreement between the prefecture and seven municipalities in a mutual trust-based fashion, we seek to further ensure the safety and security of residents living in relevant communities.
