To offer better energy solution service to restaurant, commercial facility, and office building customers, Chubu Electric Power will start an initiative this August called the Ume Project. This project uses the Internet of things (IoT) and is intended for developing a system to collect data on energy.

The system Chubu Electric Power seeks to develop under the Ume Project will collect electricity consumption and other energy-related data from smart meters and measuring instruments installed in customers' equipment, and save that data to a cloud storage as a database.

Chubu Electric Power will analyze the energy data it collected and provide service to visualize that information by such efforts as developing reports summarizing the energy consumption levels of customers.

Chubu Electric Power will select and make individual requests to customers who are to be subject to the Ume Project.

Using the system it developed, the company seeks to achieve further enhanced energy solution service. That includes rolling out energy solutions that harness artificial intelligence or big-data analyses as well as demand response programs.

As a total energy service corporate group that is one step ahead, Chubu Electric Power will continue working so that it can suggest more efficient energy usage approaches to customers.
