RESOLVED: CRA Duplication of CI T5008 Records

June 24, 2016

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has notified CI that all duplicate T5008 records have been removed. Clients will now only see one entry of their T5008 information.

Every year CI is required to electronically file T5008 records (Statement of Securities Transactions) with the CRA to report the proceeds of dispositions for clients with non-registered accounts. In April 2016, it was discovered that the CRA had duplicated the records submitted by CI for the 2015 tax year in error. As a result, clients using the new ‘Auto-fill my return’ feature may have seen a double entry of their T5008 information.

Once discovered, CI promptly communicated the error to clients and advisors and worked closely with the CRA to ensure that the duplicated records were removed in a timely manner.

If you have any question with regards to the above, please contact CI Client Services at 1-800-563-5181.

Yours truly,
CI Investments
