COMPAÑÍA DE DISTRIBUCIÓN INTEGRAL LOGISTA HOLDINGS, S.A. The Northern Platform, with 4 docks for trucks and 30 docks for vans, able to operate simultaneously, will service the distribution centres at the following cities: Viana do Castelo, Braga, Matosinhos, Porto, Paços de Ferreira, Guimarães and Oliveira de Azeméis. Also, the new platform is equipped with an automated sorter, capable of processing 5,000 envelopes/bags per hour. It also has a measuring system with a dynamic scale, capable of weighing up to 40Kg volumes at a 2.5m/s speed, besides volumetric measuring. Accordingly, this system may manage simultaneous sortering from and to different destinations.
The new platform sorter is also synchronized with a recording system allowing to both real time monitoring and access to recordings, aimed at searching for particular packages, looking into images of the dispatches' loading, unloading and sorting. Such system is composed of 16 cameras, two of them capable of 360º recording. All of them provide high definition digital recordings and are connected to a recorder capable of connecting up to 32 cameras and storing up to 31 days of recordings.
João Jales, NACEX Portugal Country Manager, explains that «this new platform will allow to respond to the increase in merchandise volumes in distribution centres in this region of the country». The manager says that «thanks to the implemented technological solutions, we will provide our clients with a faster and more efficient service, by optimizing all processes related with receiving and sorting the volumes to be distributed». João Jales adds that «with the Northern Platform, replacing the Alfena platform, we will at least triple our capacity, now better suited to this area's needs which, due to its industrial fabric, it still has great room for development».

Through NACEX distribution centres it is possible to order dispatches of up to 40Kg, guaranteeing the best transit times by land throughout the Iberian Peninsula. Every NACEX vehicle is equipped with PDA and connected online through GPRS, allowing to fully tracing the order, granting access to its location to both the client and the addressee. One of the features distinguishing NACEX in the national market is its owned and continuously improving computer system, which may be integrated with the clients' management and billing programs.
