The Cigna Foundation today announced a $75,000 grant to the Broward County Education Foundation to support the families of victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida.

“We want to help ensure that direct financial support is provided to the families of those killed and injured in the Parkland school shooting,” said Scott E. Evelyn, market president for South Florida and the Caribbean. “We are united with the community we serve in its grief as well as its resolve to move forward.”

The Broward County Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit direct-support organization solely dedicated to raising funds for Broward County Public Schools. The organization will serve as the central repository for the Stoneman Douglas Victims’ Fund and will organize a local steering committee responsible for setting the fund’s distribution policy.

“We hope our grant to the Broward County Education Foundation adds to the collective caring efforts of the community and helps to play a part in the healing process,” said Mary Engvall, Cigna Foundation director.
