CHICAGO - August 15, 2017 - Cigna (NYSE: CI) has recognized four Midwest client organizations in the company's annual Cigna Well-Being Awards, for their strong commitment to improving the health and well-being of employees through their workplace wellness programs.

The recognized organizations, along with selected highlights of the employee wellness programming which merited their selection, include:

AM Castle & Company(Oakbrook, IL.), for their support of workforce biometrics, promotion of annual physicals, educational webinars and multi-media communication platform.Cook-Illinois Corporation(Oakbrook, IL.), which hired a registered dietician to serve as the company's wellness manager, in support of robust programs which promote healthy eating, annual biometric screenings, weight loss competitions, pedometer giveaways, and a variety of physical activities.McKinley (Ann Arbor, MI.), for their sponsorship of a 'Healthy Living' program which guides employees to achieve biometric targets with the creation of personal wellness plans, and for their commitment to a healthy workplace through their investment in a dedicated wellness coordinator, on-site fitness centers, bicycles, outdoor work space, chair messages and gym membership discounts, among other initiatives.Schaumburg Park District (Schaumburg, IL.), whose 'Take Time for Wellness' initiative has engaged employees through incentives, programs and events designed to support healthier choices.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, U.S. employers lose more than $225 billion each year in productivity due to employee health problems. Cigna created the Well-Being Award to recognize employer clients that have a positive impact on the health and well-being of their workforce.

Applicants are evaluated based on the core components of their wellness program, including the goals, implementation, incentives, leadership engagement and employee participation. All applications are reviewed and judged by an internal, multi-departmental review committee from Cigna.
