CIMIC Group today announced the appointment of Kate Spargo to its Board of Directors as an Independent Non-Executive Director.

Ms Spargo has extensive experience as an independent company director and strong knowledge of the sectors in which CIMIC Group operates.

CIMIC Group Executive Chairman Marcelino Fernández Verdes said: "Kate is renowned for her commercial background and familiarity with the infrastructure, construction, services and engineering sectors, making her a valued addition to the CIMIC Group Board.

"In particular, Kate has highly regarded experience with UGL, having held positions as a Director, and later Chair, at the services and engineering company between 2010 and 2016.

"Kate has held independent company director positions for more than 20 years, and built a strong focus on risk, audit, governance, workplace health, safety and well-being. Her non- executive skills are supported by an extensive career in government law and private legal practice.

"I look forward to working with Kate and, on behalf of my fellow Directors, welcome her to the Board."

Ms Spargo holds a Bachelor of Law with Honours and an Arts degree from the University of Adelaide.

She has broad commercial experience, both in advisory roles (having worked in legal practice in the public and private sectors), and as a director of listed and unlisted companies.

Ms Spargo is a Director of Sigma Pharmaceuticals, Sonic Healthcare, Adairs and the Geelong Football Club.

Ms Spargo's previous Board positions include Chairman of UGL, as well as directorships at Fulton Hogan, SMEC Holdings, Fletcher Building, Pacific Hydro, Suncorp Portfolio Services, IOOF, Investec Bank, and Transfield Services Infrastructure Fund.

Ms Spargo is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
