CIR Compagnie Industriali Riunite : Sogefi: new generation filter patented for Renault diesel models

Sogefi has developed and patented a new gasoil filtration module in plastic for vehicles built on Renault's CMF1 platform. The innovative design integrates the filter element with the screw cap of the plastic body of the module, making installation of the filter simpler and thereby eliminating the risk of contamination by agents that could damage the delicate injection system.  The filter incorporates a sensor for the water level and a 250 W fuel-heating element to guarantee that the vehicle starts reliably even in extremely cold weather conditions. The body is made entirely of plastic, which unlike metal gives a greater resistance to the corrosive properties of certain biofuels. Unlike metal filters, filters made from plastic can be completely incinerated after use and are therefore much more ecological than those made from metal. The filter will first be available on Renault models and during 2015 will be available for all Sogefi's aftermarket brands. The company expects the number of cars with the new Sogefi filter to grow to over 1 million vehicles in the next five years.
