PALO ALTO, Calif., Sept. 15, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- City National Bank, California's premier private and business bank, announced today it has expanded its Palo Alto team, hiring two experienced advisors to grow the bank's presence in the region.

City National hired James Bourque as a vice president and senior private client advisor to join private banking colleagues in Palo Alto. Carine Krikorian also joined as vice president and senior private banker. The two will work closely with a team of experts to advise clients in the technology and venture capital industries.

"City National is strong and growing in the Bay Area. We are so pleased to have Jim and Carine join our private banking team. They both bring a high level of expertise and experience, and are well connected in the region's tech and venture capital community," said Kent Grubaugh, senior vice president and regional manager of private banking for City National in the Bay Area.

City National's Palo Alto office now has 16 colleagues, double the amount from a year ago. The 6,600-square-foot branch is located at 245 Lytton Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94301. The telephone number is (650) 812-8300. City National has been serving the Palo Alto community since 2000.

Bourque has nearly 20 years of experience managing assets for high-net-worth clients and catering to the financial needs of technology executives and family offices. He most recently worked at BNY Mellon as a senior director in San Francisco. Prior to that, he spent 17 years at Morgan Stanley in its private wealth management division. He earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Princeton University, and completed a post-graduate study in portfolio management at the Wharton School.

With more than 10 years of professional experience in the financial services industry, Krikorian has joined as a vice president and senior private banker on City National's private client service team. Previously, she was a private banker at Union Bank, in addition to holding positions at Merrill Lynch and Bank of America. Krikorian earned her bachelor's degree in finance from San Jose State University and serves on the board of the Women's Guild at St. Bart's Church.

City National entered the San Francisco Bay Area in 2000 and now has 12 offices in the region. In Silicon Valley, City National has three branches – two in San Jose and another in downtown Palo Alto, which houses its growing technology and venture capital group and these new private bankers. City National is now the 24th largest American commercial bank and has been listed by Barron's as one of the nation's top 40 wealth management firms for the past 13 years.
