CityFibre has announced Bristol's ultra-fast pure fibre network is now live, and the first businesses are connected and receiving world class, gigabit speed internet services. The partnership between CityFibre and Triangle Networks has created a powerful alternative digital infrastructure for the city which can help businesses compete on a global scale.

Rob Hamlin, Commercial Director at CityFibre said 'We are thrilled to announce that our pure fibre network in Bristol is now live, just 3 months after launch, and that the first businesses are already realising the benefits of ultra-fast connectivity. As a true Gigabit City, Bristol is now in an even better position to compete on both the national and international stage. We encourage businesses to contact Triangle to find out how they can get connected'.

CityFibre launched the network and the state-of-the-art services it makes possible with Triangle Networks in February, and the first of the city's businesses to request the service are now enjoying internet speeds up to 100 times faster than the UK average with download and upload speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second.

David Trew of Steam Bars said 'Triangle Networks offered us a 500Mbps connection for a fraction more than we were paying for 20Mbps ADSL broadband. For us, it was a no-brainer. I can now upload and download 7Gb files in around three minutes! I've never seen internet this fast, let alone been a user of it. It is astonishingly fast, perfectly reliable, and more than just a breath of fresh air. We can now get on with our objectives, free from the shackles of ADSL.'

Increasingly services such as VoIP, remote storage and a new generation of cloud services are changing the way businesses operate but connectivity is holding many businesses back. As demand for greater bandwidth continues to grow, Bristol is now ahead of the game. The arrival of this network, with speeds of up to 1000Mbps, is helping to transform Bristol into one of the best connected cities on the planet, capable of supporting whatever digital requirements the future holds.

Paul Brown MHI's CEO said 'We're very excited to be among the First businesses to take advantage of Bristol's ultra-fast speeds. A Gigabit connection enables us to reduce international call costs with the new VoIP solution and speeds up our data connection with Client facilities in Chicago and Hong Kong, boosting our productivity'

Paul Anslow, Managing Director at Triangle said 'CityFibre aren't using legacy networks which means there is no copper to restrict the internet speeds the network can support. This translates into practically limitless capacity making the use of applications such as Office 365, video conferencing and VoIP a practical reality.'

As the network continues to be extended, businesses are urged to register their interest, with no obligation, to ensure the network is built to reach them. Register at www.cityfibre.com/bristol
