Cloud Peak Energy Inc. (NYSE:CLD), one of the largest U.S. coal producers and the Crow Tribe of Indians recently awarded over $75,000 in scholarships to students from the Crow Tribe who are pursuing higher education. Cloud Peak Energy funds college and vocational scholarships annually as part of the Option to Lease Agreement and Exploration Agreement reached in 2013 between the Crow Tribe of Indians and Big Metal Coal Co. LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cloud Peak Energy Inc.

“On behalf of Cloud Peak Energy, I congratulate this year’s scholarship recipients who are demonstrating their dedication to higher education,” said Colin Marshall, Cloud Peak Energy’s President and CEO. “We as a company value education in our workplace and in our communities and are proud to support these Tribal members with their education as part of our agreements with the Crow Tribe.”

The scholarships will be paid over the course of two semesters. All recipients are members of the Crow Tribe and are currently attending higher education institutions.
