Coca-Cola Enterprises Announces Suppliers of the Year
and Sets Carbon Reduction Plans with Key Suppliers at Annual
Summit
LONDON, 19 APRIL 2012 - Ball Packaging Europe, Krones
and Klimasan were recognized for their performance in
quality, service, value and corporate responsibility and
sustainability during Coca-Cola Enterprises' (CCE) third
annual Supplier Sustainability Summit. The Summit brought CCE
together with approximately 100 suppliers to focus on the
company's ambitious target of reducing the carbon footprint
of its drinks by a third. As part of its 'Carbon Challenge,'
all CCE suppliers will
implement a carbon measurement and management plan.
"Our sustainability vision is to become a low-carbon,
zero-waste business while inspiring a more sustainable
tomorrow. To do this, we must look beyond minimizing our own
impact and towards collaboration with our suppliers across
our value chain," said Stephen Moorhouse, general manager and
vice president, supply chain. "Recognizing outstanding
performance and exploring innovative ways of working together
will collectively move us towards a future where we can grow
our
businesses, but not our carbon footprints."
The Summit was followed by a ceremony, where Chairman and CEO
John Brock and European Group President Hubert Patricot
presented 2012 Supplier Awards to Ball Packaging Europe
(Supplier of the Year), Krones (Corporate Responsibility and
Sustainability Supplier) and
Klimasan (Most Improved Supplier).
The Sumimt included panel discussions on climate-related
issues and the implications for global supply chains, and a
series of workshops focused on delivering a sustainable 2012
Olympic Games, achieving carbon reductions across the value
chain and designing a low-carbon future. The participants
heard from sustainability experts from the Cambridge
Programme for Sustainability
Leadership, International Business Leaders Forum and Ashridge
Business School.
