In Venezuela, as part of a consortium with Alstom Transport and Thalès Transportation Systems, Colas Rail has just signed a contract involving the construction of Line 2 for the metroinLos Teques, a town located on the outskirts of Caracas, Venezuela.

The entire project includes a 12-km line and 6 stations.  Colas Rail will coordinate the site in collaboration with Alstom Transport, lay track and install auxiliary power feeding, emergency power supply and fire detection systems.  Colas' share of the contract value amounts to 96 million euros.

Work is slated for launch by the end of October 2011 for a total of 4 years.  

Colas Rail began working in Venezuela in 1978, and has worked on the design and construction of the Caracas metro lines and extensions ever since.  

Last June, Colas Rail won a contract in Malaysia, as part of a consortium with its local partner CMCE/Uniway, to build an extension of the Kelana Jayalight metro line inKuala Lumpur.

The contract, which covers 17.4 km of line and 13 stations, comprises the design and build of the entire transport system (track, energy, telecom, control center) for a total of 156 million euros.  Colas Rail's share amounts to 96 million euros.

Work on the project will begin during the second half year 2012, with completion scheduled some 38 months later.

This is Colas Rail's first contract in Malaysia
