The contract includes installing the tram platforms, laying rails and installing rail signaling equipment over a total distance of 7 km, adding an additional storage track to the Hay Karima depot and relocating the 'Gare de Salé' (Salé train station) tram stop.

The contract totals €29 million.

Construction work will start in August 2017, and the line extension is scheduled to start running in the second half of 2019.

Winning this new contract reaffirms Colas Rail's enduring presence in Morocco, in synergy with Colas' road construction subsidiaries. After handling the construction of Lines 1 and 2 of the Rabat-Salé tramway and Line 1 of the Casablanca tramway, Colas Rail is currently working on a design-build contract to lay the tracks and install the overhead lines for Morocco's first high-speed rail line, which will connect Tangier to Kenitra and is slated for delivery in late 2017 or early 2018.
