NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Oct. 10, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --
Collectors Universe, Inc. (Nasdaq:CLCT), a leading provider
of value-added authentication and grading services to dealers
and collectors of high-value collectibles, today announced
the appointment of Mr. Robert Deuster to the position of
Chief Executive Officer, effective October 15, 2012,
succeeding Mr. Michael McConnell. The Company reported that
Mr. McConnell will continue as a member of the Board of
Directors. Mr. Deuster will be a nominee to serve as a
director of the Company at the upcoming stockholders'
meeting to be held on November 19, 2012.

Mr. Deuster served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of
Newport Corporation from 1996 until his retirement in
2007. During his tenure at Newport Corporation, revenue
grew from $100 million to over $450 million. Mr.
Deuster's experience also includes senior management
positions with Applied Power, Inc. (now Actuant Corporation,
a New York Stock Exchange company), and General Electric
Company's Medical Systems Division. Mr. Deuster serves on
the board of directors of two public companies, Symmetry
Medical Inc. and Pico Holdings, Inc. and a private company
Ondax, Inc. Mr. Deuster received a B.S. in Electrical
Engineering from Marquette University in 1973.
