TACOMA, Wash., Jan. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Columbia Banking System, Inc. (NASDAQ: COLB) announced today that a quarterly cash dividend of $0.22 per common share will be paid on February 22, 2017 to shareholders of record as of the close of business on February 8, 2017.

Melanie Dressel, President and Chief Executive Officer noted, "In light of our fourth quarter and full-year 2016 financial performance, the Board of Directors have elected to increase our regular cash dividend by 10%. The dividend constitutes a payout ratio of 42% for the quarter and a dividend yield of 2.11%, based on the closing price of our stock on January 25, 2017."

Ms. Dressel continued, "In addition to our regular dividend, we have paid a special dividend for the past eleven quarters, which has served as a capital management tool. In anticipation of closing our acquisition of Pacific Continental Corporation, we are discontinuing our special dividend."
