The new Comcast Digital Lab for area senior citizens is furnished with eight desktop computers and a printer donated by Comcast. Before teaming up with Comcast, the center only had three outdated computers, which was not nearly enough to accommodate the demand from local seniors who are eager to become more technologically savvy.

“This will enhance not only their current abilities, but also will allow our seniors to expand their knowledge and keep their minds active,” said City of Sweetwater Mayor Jose M. Diaz. “Thanks to Comcast’s generosity and genuine care for our community, the seniors will now enjoy this great new amenity.”

Comcast is also donating 16 laptops for a second computer lab that will be located at the city’s nearby Jorge Mas Canosa Youth Center. For both teens and seniors, Comcast will partner with the city and other community organizations to sponsor digital learning classes throughout the year.

“We want to not only help seniors and teens in the City of Sweetwater connect to digital resources in these two upgraded computer labs, but ensure they understand how to use the Internet safely and effectively,” said Derek Cooper, Vice President of Government Affairs and Community Investment for the Comcast Florida Region. “In today’s increasingly digital world, this knowledge is critical no matter how old you are.”
