Comcast Business today announced that LifeWorks Northwest (NW) selected Comcast Business Ethernet to connect 16 of its largest locations throughout Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington counties in Oregon. With a staff of more than 700, LifeWorks NW provides mental health, addiction and prevention health care services to nearly 19,000 individuals at multiple locations across the Portland metro area.

“We meet a critical need for mental health services for children and adults alike. We believe that quality healthcare should be accessible to all, and we work hard every day to help people live fulfilling lives,” said Mary Monnat, LifeWorks NW president and CEO. “Honoring our commitment to the people we serve means we need to have the most efficient, yet cost-effective systems. Our past experience with Comcast Business across our metro area locations has been very positive, making it an easy choice to turn to them again for this larger project.”

Access to strong, reliable technology is critical to business operations today, and especially for those delivering healthcare services. When LifeWorks NW needed to upgrade their computer systems, the nonprofit chose to partner with Comcast Business and take advantage of the company’s Ethernet Network Service. Fast, efficient systems are essential to assist with timely information flow and use of essential electronic reporting and tracking tools.

“We first ran an audit of LifeWorks NW’s existing system, and with those findings we knew that our Ethernet Network Service would be the best solution to help them improve network performance and expand capacity,” explained David Brown, regional vice president for Comcast Business. “After the installation, it was gratifying to see that the new network made an immediate and positive difference for the nonprofit.”

With the completion of the network enhancement, LifeWorks NW now has greater capacity to securely transfer documents, participate in video conferencing and run system updates. Comcast Business Ethernet has also increased LifeWorks NW’s confidence in network stability and security.

Comcast Business Ethernet Network Service (ENS) enables customers to connect physically distributed locations across a Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) as if they are on the same Local Area Network (LAN). The service provides Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) transparency and enables customers to implement their own VLANs without coordination with Comcast Business. It’s also a cost-effective alternative to traditional hub and spoke network topologies, offering a more flexible and scalable network solution.
