PHOENIX, AZ - Comerica Bank and information storage and management services company Iron Mountain Incorporated ® are teaming up to host the second annual Shred Day Phoenix, a secure document shredding event, on Saturday, November 7, 2015, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in downtown Phoenix. The free event, which will be held in front of Comerica Theatre on West Washington Street, is offered as a public service to the Phoenix community and designed to raise awareness of identity theft prevention, hunger and recycling.

Shred Day Phoenix allows Valley consumers and business owners to securely destroy sensitive paper documents quickly, efficiently and free of charge. New to this year's event, there will be no box or bag limit, meaning guests can bring unlimited amounts of paper for secure destruction and recycling, and there will be a dedicated lane for trucks, trailers and vans with large quantities of paper. One hundred percent of the paper collected at Shred Day Phoenix will be turned into pulp and recycled to make future paper goods after being securely destroyed.

St. Mary's Food Bank volunteers will be onsite to collect suggested donations of non-perishable food items and cash, although a donation is not required for admittance. The Phoenix Police Foundation is also a beneficiary of the event and will be utilizing funds provided by charitable grants from Comerica Bank and Iron Mountain to purchase a new narcotics detector dog for the Phoenix Police Department.

'We are eager to top the nearly 60,000 pounds of sensitive documents we collected and destroyed last year. That's one of the reasons why we're inviting consumers, non-profits and businesses to bring us all their unwanted documents this year, as securely shredding documents with sensitive personal information is the single best way to prevent identity theft,' said Annette G. Musa, Comerica Bank's Arizona Market President. 'Everybody wins because we're helping prevent fraud, reduce pollution, preserve landfill space, save trees and help feed hungry Phoenicians - it's a great way to spend a few minutes of your Saturday!'

Musa added, 'Identity theft is the fastest growing crime in the U.S. with more than 13 million victims annually, and most consumers don't shred nearly as much sensitive information as they should.'

Shred Day Phoenix 2015 marks the second community shredding event in the Arizona market hosted by Comerica Bank and Iron Mountain. At last year's inaugural event, nearly 25,000 total meals were provided by St. Mary's Food Bank as a result of donations from generous Shred Day Phoenix participants.

The two companies have hosted similar shredding events throughout Michigan, California and Texas. Three-time world record holders for the event, Comerica Bank and Iron Mountain earned Guinness World Records® honors for the most paper collected and shredded in a single day at their Shred Day DFW event in North Texas in 2012, 2014 and in May 2015.
