The agreement was signed last night at an inaugural 'Aussie tech meet up' event hosted in our Hong Kong Innovation Lab and attended by more than a dozen Australian tech companies.

CBA Managing Director Hong Kong, Maaike Steinebach, highlighted that China has one of the highest fintech adoption rates in the world.

'The new partnership supports Australian fintech and non-fintech companies, as well as the Australian innovation ecosystem, and provides great access to opportunities both here and in Australia.

'There are already many successful Australian tech companies active in the Hong Kong innovation community. We're excited that, with Austrade, we can make the journey for companies coming through from Australia to Hong Kong and the Asia-Pacific region just that little bit smoother.'

The event was also attended by: Michaela Browning, Consul General, Australian Consulate General, Hong Kong; and Wendy Haydon, Consul (Commercial) & Trade and Investment Commissioner, Austrade Hong Kong & Macau.
