Developed by CSC’s Cybersecurity and Cloud teams along with technology partner CloudPassage®, On-Demand Workload Protection is designed to allow clients to protect their cloud workloads and consume cloud-based security services using the same attributes that have made public cloud computing services so popular today.

Historically, clients have been forced to cobble together solutions based on multiple technologies and using legacy licensing models. This new security-as-a-service capability addresses the growing client demand for flexible, consumption-based security models that flex in concert with their business and operational requirements.

Though some security controls can be purchased directly from individual public cloud providers, each requires self-management and incident reporting rarely spanning different vendors. Keeping track of alerts or incidents for multiple cloud workloads has required a costly dedicated security operations center or managed security services provider. Until now.

“CSC’s On-Demand Workload Protection offers an affordable pay-as-you-consume alternative that gives an enterprise clear visibility into all of its traditional and next-generation platforms and workloads,” said Ashish Mahadwar, executive vice president and general manager, CSC Emerging Business Group. “Eliminating the need for dedicated staff to manage and monitor multiple security services internally also frees up resources that can be invested elsewhere in the business.”

The new offering works by deploying ultra-lightweight CloudPassage Halo agents on every server instance in any combination of data centers – private cloud or public cloud – to monitor server activity without interfering with performance. These agents are deployed through orchestration tools manually or with scripts – even on live systems without reboot – and can maintain complete visibility for customers into all systems with a single user interface via CSC’s proprietary Pulse portal.

CIOs or CISOs challenged by disparate business units standing up their own systems and workloads in the cloud – and possibly putting sensitive company information at risk – may find CSC’s latest cyber offering particularly compelling. The On Demand Workload Protection service can provide individual business units dedicated packages customized to their unique policy or regulatory needs but still managed securely via a single platform, enabling confident and cost-efficient corporate oversight and security control across the enterprise.
