JOPLIN, Mo., Dec. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Con-way Truckload, a full-truckload carrier and subsidiary of Con-way Inc. (NYSE: CNW), today announced that its employees raised more than $50,000 during the company's 21(st) Annual Truckloads of Treasures holiday giving campaign.

Nearly 200 Con-way Truckload employees, family members and friends participated in a shopping spree last night at the Joplin Target to purchase holiday gifts for local children and senior citizens in need. A Con-way Truckload tractor-trailer was present at the event to make the special delivery to the Salvation Army. Additionally, the company presented $1,500 donations to seven local charities: Boys & Girls Club of Southwest Missouri, Area Agency on Aging, Pro Musica, Children's Haven, Art Feeds, Camp Quality and Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Four States.

"A donation like this goes a long way in helping us lessen the burden for children and their families," said Annette Thurston, executive director at Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Four States. "It's because of the generosity of organizations like Con-way Truckload that we're able to provide care and comfort for those families while their child is dealing with a potentially life-threatening condition."

To raise the necessary funds for Truckloads of Treasures, Con-way Truckload's executive management team and employees donated several raffle prizes. Tickets were sold to company employees in differing dollar amounts, depending on the prize. This year's items included one and two week(s) off with pay; Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot and Best Buy gift cards in amounts ranging from $200 to $300; a bag of cash and a Kindle Fire. The Con-way Charitable Foundation also matched $7,000 of Con-way Truckload employee donations.

"Truckloads of Treasures is a tradition that our employees look forward to every year," said Joseph Dagnese, president of Con-way Truckload. "Giving back to the communities where we live and work is a core part of our culture and it's gratifying to see the high level of involvement from our employees to make this annual event a success."

Since 1993, Truckloads of Treasures has presented more than $672,000 in employee-raised donations to local organizations.

In addition to the Joplin shopping spree, each of the company's other terminal locations in Laredo and Lancaster, Texas; Taylor, Mich.; and West Memphis, Ark., partnered with local organizations to provide holiday gifts and food for area children and senior citizens.
