The Business Travel App Opportunity

"The business travel industry is sizeable and relatively untapped opportunity for developers," says Jigish Avalani, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Developer Platform Services at Concur. "Business travelers spend five times as much as leisure travelers and often rely on mobile devices to get the greatest value out of every trip. We're enabling developers to capitalize on this opportunity with an open platform, the Concur App Center and our $150 million Perfect Trip Fund."

At DevCon 2014, developers will learn how to turn everyday business travel needs into rich, engaging and connected apps and services. The list of friction points for business travelers is long, creating significant opportunities for developers to improve the business trip experience. Concur will also demonstrate a suite of travel applications and mashups to tap the trillion-dollar industry.

Global business travel is a $1.12 trillion industry, and the U.S. business travel market is estimated to reach $292.3 billion in 2014, reports the Global Business Travel Association. According to the U.S. Travel Association, 452 million business trips were logged in the U.S. alone, providing a large need and opportunity for developers worldwide.

Through its APIs and tools, Concur provides developers access to the same open platform that already supports more than 70 percent of the Fortune 1,000 for integrated travel and expense solutions that ease expense, invoice and compliance requirements.

Event and media sponsors include BluVision, IdeaMarket, IBM Innovation Center, Mojio, Pebble, Silicon Valley Code Camp, TravelStartups.com and Yodlee.
