CLINTON, CONNECTICUT - January 17, 2017 - Maureen P. Westbrook, Vice President, Customer and Regulatory Affairs at The Connecticut Water Company, was appointed to serve on the Board of Directors of The Alliance for Water Efficiency (AWE).

A Connecticut Water employee for 28 years, Maureen has held various positions in the areas of source protection, water resource planning, regulatory compliance, community outreach, customer communications, and customer service. She has focused on strategies, legislation and programs that balance the interests of the company, its customers, and other stakeholders, and protect water supplies and promote environmental stewardship. She was active in legislative efforts that provide for tax credits for open space donations and ratemaking tools that support infrastructure replacement and water conservation.

'I am looking forward to my role with the AWE and working with fellow board members on the water challenges we face today,' said Ms. Westbrook. 'We all share the common goal of being good stewards of the environment and sustaining our water resources for future generations. This will be a great opportunity to help build on the work that Connecticut Water has done to promote water conservation for our customers and to support policies that further those efforts in the state.'

In addition to her role in AWE, Ms. Westbrook has held board or committee positions with the Connecticut Water Works Association, National Association of Water Companies, American Water Works Association, Connecticut's Water Planning Council Advisory Group, and is a member of the Association of Connecticut Lobbyists. She earned a master's degree in Environmental Pollution Control from Pennsylvania State University and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Smith College in Northampton, Mass.
