Microsoft Word - 140616 - CZL Announcement 14 June 2016_FINAL Second Level 7 Drilling Position Hits Massive Sulphides
  • Drilling at Plomosas continues to define and infill sulphide mineralisation at Level 7 Deeps and Tres Amigos;
  • New drilling from Cuddy 7.2 extends known mineralisation 150m to the north;
    • massive sulphides in the first 4 holes drilled
    • 8.75 mdh intersection massive sulphides in hole LV7023 (visual estimate);
  • Assay results received for previously completed holes with highlights including;

3.30m @ 15.16% Zn, 10.02% Pb, 69.77 g/t Ag (LV7DD017), and

1.00m @ 23.50% Zn, 1.58% Pb, 17.20 g/t Ag (LRSDD012).

Consolidated Zinc is pleased to announce further intersections of massive sulphide and results from underground diamond drilling at the Plomosas mine designed to test the limits and infill the mineralisation encountered at Level 7 Deeps and Tres Amigos (Figures 5, 6).

Drilling commenced from a newly established drill cuddy 7.2 which is 150m north of the previous drilling position (Figure 1). Four holes have been completed, all of which intersected massive sulphide mineralisation, confirming the extension of the significant mineralisation encountered below Level 7 as previously reported by CZL.

Figure 1. Plan of drilling completed and proposed, highlighting new drilling position at Cuddy 7.2 and results of recently completed drillholes discussed in the text testing the Main Manto Horizon (assays awaited).

Particularly notable is hole LV7023 which intersected 8.75m of massive sulphides. Analytical results from these intersections are pending, however the style and composition of the sulphides appears similar to that encountered throughout the mine. A summary of the visual intersections is provided in Table 1 and full details of the drillholes are included in Table 4.

Holes LV7DD020, LV7DD021 and LV7DD022 were drilled on the same section to test the down dip extent of mineralisation from the Level 7 zone and the northern extension of mineralisation drilled from Cuddy 7.1. All three holes intersected mineralisation comprising massive sulphide of 1.5m, 2.0m and 0.2m respectively. Drill hole LV7023 (Figure 2) was drilled to the south and intersected several zones of massive sulphides, including an 8.75m interval from 24.85 metres down hole (which also incorporates four intermittent 1m intervals of waste or weakly mineralised zones) and a second mineralised interval of 0.50m from 41.00 metres down hole of massive and semi‐massive sulphide mineralisation. More details will be provided including an estimate of true widths as detailed logging, interpretation and assays come to hand.

Figure 2. CZL geologists inspecting sample of massive sulphide in core from hole LV7023

The mineralisation encountered in drilling from Cuddy 7.2 occurs in the typical mine sequence of leached hangingwall shales, mineralised intervals occurring along the hangingwall contact to the Main Manto which also displays collapse breccias, into a zone of leached and vuggy marble with jarosite staining, through a massive brecciated marble and into the footwall shale units.

Assay results received for Level 7 Deeps and Tres Amigos

Results continue to be received from ongoing drilling completed for Level 7 Deeps (from Cuddy 7.1) and Tres Amigos. These are summarised in Tables 2 and 3 with highlights of the sulphide intercepts obtained in this extensional and infill drilling program including:

TRSDD015

(Tres Amigos)

1.00m @ 16.75% Zn, 0.21% Pb and 6.90g/t Ag from 166.65mdh

Drilling continues to test the limits and infill the mineralisation as shown in Figures 3 and 4. Most drill holes from the deeps drilling program continue to intersect the sulphide mineralised horizons where forecast within the typical pinch and swell structures clearly identifiable within the stratabound horizons.
