• CEO Bernhard Burgener will be leaving the board after seven years and transferring his responsibilities to Board Member Fred Kogel

In the Management Board of Constantin Medien AG, changes in personnel are being made. In view of increasing challenges in the areas film and sports marketing, Bernhard Burgener (58), Chairman of the Management Board (CEO), will be concentrating on the management of the Highlight Communications group. Burgener describes the corporate targets at the level of Constantin Medien AG as achieved. In particular, the positioning of SPORT1 with regard to content and personnel has been successful. Accordingly, Burgener will be resigning from his office with effect from December 31, 2015 and will be leaving the Management Board.

Fred Kogel (55), currently Board Member with responsibility for the areas Production, Process Management and Integration at Constantin Medien AG, is the designated successor to Bernhard Burgener as CEO, and will assume this position with effect from January 1, 2016. Furthermore, Olaf Schröder (44), Chairman of the Management of Sport1 GmbH since October 1, 2014, has additionally been appointed as Member of the Management Board with responsibility for the area of sports with effect from January 1, 2016.

For five years, Fred Kogel closely accompanied the media group in his function as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Constantin Medien AG before moving to operational responsibility in October 2014. He is one of the most high-profile and respected media managers in the German-speaking region.

Dr Dieter Hahn: 'The Constantin Medien Group has successfully implemented far-reaching changes. The Supervisory Board is convinced that Fred Kogel will now lead the Company to even greater success in his function as CEO. In the person of Olaf Schröder, the Management Board has gained a new member who is highly regarded throughout the industry as an experienced sports media expert. SPORT1, with its high growth rates, will be of increasing importance for our Company. Olaf Schröder has got the personality which is essential for the further success in the development of our Sports Segment. I am certain that the new Management Board team with Fred Kogel at the helm will be a powerful motor for the Constantin Medien Group.'
Bernhard Burgener: 'In view of the increasing challenges, leading the Highlight Group and its holdings into the future will demand a lot from me. A double leadership role at Constantin Medien and Highlight Communications is no longer necessary. I can look back on seven eventful years, a time for which I am very thankful, and will remain closely involved with Constantin Medien, also as a shareholder.'

Furthermore, Leif Arne Anders (43) will be assuming the function of chief representative of Constantin Medien AG within the finance division. He will be assuming this office in addition to his functions as Commercial Managing Director of the corporate subsidiaries Sport1 GmbH, Sport1 Media GmbH and PLAZAMEDIA GmbH.

About Fred Kogel:
Since October 1, 2014, Fred Kogel acts as Chief Officer Production, Process Management and Integration in the Management Board of Constantin Medien AG. Furthermore, Fred Kogel assumes the operative responsibility for the production activities of the Constantin Medien subsidiary PLAZAMEDIA GmbH and its subsidiaries in Austria and Switzerland. Since March 24, 2015, he is also responsible for Human Resources and IT. In parallel, as Member of the Management Board of the Group company Constantin Film AG, Fred Kogel is responsible for the areas TV, Personnel and also for Process Management and Integration, since October 1, 2014.

Fred Kogel was born in Wiesbaden in 1960. The graduate in law began his media career in the nineteen-eighties at Bayerischer Rundfunk and the Neue Constantin Film. As a TV producer, he was responsible for shows including the 'Grand Prix d' Eurovision', 'Wetten Dass..?', the 'Deutsche Filmpreis' and the 'Harald Schmidt Show'. His management career began in 1993 as head of entertainment at ZDF. He moved to SAT.1 in 1995 and as Managing Director he led the areas Programme and Sales until 2001. From the turn of the century, Fred Kogel held the position of Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors at KirchMedia GmbH & Co. KGaA and founded Constantin Entertainment GmbH. Further to this, he was a member of the supervisory board of ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG and Chairman of the Supervisor Board of Constantin Film AG before assuming the function of Chairman of the Board of the film and TV production company in April 2003 as the successor to Bernd Eichinger. Fred Kogel was Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Constantin Medien AG from 2009 and resigned from this function with the end of the annual general meeting on July 30, 2014.

About Olaf Schröder:
In 1993, Olaf Schröder joined the former DSF Deutsches SportFernsehen GmbH (today: Sport1 GmbH), where he had various functions, among others, product manager and then project manager for editorial activities in soccer, handball, basketball and volleyball. At the beginning of 2010 he took over the position of the Head of Football and thus the responsibility for all soccer broadcasts and formats of SPORT1. Since November 2012, he held the position as editor-in-chief and program director. Since, December 2013, as Managing Director, Olaf Schröder is responsible for the areas program and editorial under the multimedia umbrella brand SPORT1, which continues to include his function as program director. Since October 1, 2014, Olaf Schröder has been Chairman of the Management of Sport1 GmbH.
