Continental : Auto clubs ACE and ARBÖ and inspectorate GTÜ rate Continental winter tires “highly recommended”

• ContiWinterContact TS 850 receives top-level rating
• Ten size 205/55 R16 tires in test

In the joint winter tire test conducted by experts from auto club magazine "ACE Lenkrad", Austrian automobile club ARBÖ and technical inspectorate GTÜ, the ContiWinterContact TS 850 was awarded the top rating "highly recommended". The test included ten tires from European, US and Asian manufacturers. Using a VW Golf 7 as their test car, the experts put the tires through their paces in 16 different disciplines on snow-covered roads and dry asphalt as well as in the wet. The size 205/55 R 16 tires that were tested fit a wide variety of compact and mid-range cars. The Semperit Speed-Grip 2 winter tire also in the test won a "recommended" rating.

"The ContiWinterContact TS 850 demonstrated above-average performance in this competitive environment, showing its superiority above all on wintry roads and in the wet," said Continental Press Spokesman Alexander Bahlmann commenting on the results. "These are the crucial test parameters, because during the cold season roads tend to be wet or covered in snow and ice." Along with the safety-relevant tests, the specialists also gave the Continental tire good marks in the category "Economy / Environment": Here too the tire developed in Hanover returned an above-average performance among the products tested.
