Tyre manufacturer Continental is thrilled to announce it has inked a deal with the Asian Football Confederation, and will be recognized as an Official Sponsor of the AFC Asian Cup Australia 2015.

"This is the first time that Continental invests into an international sponsorship package in the Asia Pacific region. The decision is based on a consistent global brand positioning for the premium tire brand Continental and underlines both the regional commitment as well as the passion for football." said Executive Vice President Antonio Lopes de Seabra, who is heading Continentals Passenger & Light Truck Tires Replacement Business in the Asia Pacific region.

Internationally, Continental Tyres has a long and strong involvement in global football with sponsorship of the FIFA World Cups, including Brazil 2014, as well as support of the UEFA Champions League from 1995-2000, UEFA EURO 2008™ and 2012 as well as the UEFA EURO 2016™ event to be held in France and the recent expansion of the agreement with Major League Soccer in the USA and Canada.

From its humble beginnings in 1956, the AFC Asian Cup has grown into the continent's biggest football event, one that stands proudly alongside any top level competition around the globe in terms of excitement, entertainment and organization. It enjoys a massive media reach up to 2.5 billion spectators through its multi-channel communication approach.

To be hosted in Australia, between the 9th and 31st January, the 2015 Event promises to be a global phenomenon. Its qualifying stage includes 46 countries from across the continent, representing more than half of the world's population.
