Hanover, May 22, 2014. As consumer behavior changes, road freight transport is transforming itself apace. Premium manufacturer Continental has responded to the ever growing volume of regional distribution traffic with its new tire family Conti Hybrid, a completely new type of tire for combined use on both regional roads and highways. With its specially designed construction, the new Conti Hybrid range is ideal for heavy-duty distribution and fleet use.

The first version of the new Hybrid range in 22.5 inch format to be launched is the Conti Hybrid HS3, a steering axle tread for universal use. When compared with its predecessors, the thick new tread design with a high wear volume ("plus volume pattern") guarantees a 17 percent longer service life. The larger plus volume pattern used for the tread of this new tire also considerably reduces rolling resistance caused by flexing, making the new Conti Hybrid HS3 a reliable all-rounder for demanding transport schedules on different road types.

Pocket sipes inserted diagonally into the base of the tread optimize wet-road performance throughout the tire's service life, even on changing road surfaces. Its closed shoulders make the new Conti Hybrid HS3 steering-axle tire in 22.5 inch format highly maneuverable while reducing movement within the tread design. The use of a new rubber compound in the sidewall helps reduce the build up of temperature in the tire, resulting in lower fuel consumption.

Very high levels of safety in demanding regional distribution traffic, excellent behavior in wet weather throughout the entire service life, and consistently outstanding braking properties make the new Conti Hybrid steering axle tires perfect universal tires. But despite its wide range of different applications, the new Conti Hybrid HS3 remains true to the German manufacturer's product promise: maximum tire life with even lower fuel consumption.

The solid reinforced premium casing, increased tread material, four-layer triangular belts, and an especially robust bead construction guarantee a long and reliable service life. In addition, the load-carrying capacity of this new universal tire has been adapted for the heavier weight of Euro 6 trucks. The integrated visual alignment indicator (VAI) makes wheel alignment errors easy to spot from the tread pattern.

With high-quality retreading and regrooving options, more direct savings can be made on the fleet operating costs. As with all Continental truck tires, the new Conti Hybrid HS3 also features the patented AirKeep® liner to prevent gradual loss of air pressure.

The newly developed steering axle tires Conti Hybrid HS3 will be available in no fewer than eight different dimensions for heavy-duty applications in 22.5 inch format by the end of the year.
