Hanover, April 28, 2014. Continental is one of the major tire OEMs for MAN Truck & Bus, with MAN now using Continental's 3rd generation truck and bus tires as original equipment. From May 2014, new vehicles from the Munich-based truck and bus manufacturer will be equipped with the new Conti tire generation ex works. The Conti EcoPlus HS3 for steering axles and the Conti EcoPlus HD3 for driving axles in sizes 315/70R22.5 and 315/70R22.5 XL were the first to obtain approval for all MAN models. With the Conti EcoPlus tire family, Continental has consistently focused on long-haul use and regional distribution, mainly on expressways and freeways. Thanks to the specially adjusted rubber compounds, new tread design, and reduced rolling resistance, they give customers the benefit of fuel savings of up to 1.9 liters over 100 kilometers - without compromising on mileage performance. The steering axle tires also demonstrate improved wet grip behavior and feature a Visual Alignment Indicator (VAI). In intensive pre-tests, the Conti EcoPlus tires convinced the specialist departments at MAN.

Conti EcoPlus HS3 and Conti EcoPlus HD3 for truck steering and driving axles, and the bus tires Conti Coach HA3 for long-haul travel and Conti CityPlus for regional travel are used as original equipment for MAN Truck & Bus.

In the bus segment too, Continental managed to score points with its premium tires at MAN with both its brands MAN and NEOPLAN. The Conti Coach HA3 succeeded in fulfilling the manufacturer's technical specifications with flying colors as an all-round tire fitment for long distance travel, while the Conti CityPlus HA3 won plaudits for regional travel. While the coach tires, specially designed for greater speed and comfort on long-haul journeys, can offer a high degree of efficiency thanks to fuel-efficient mileage, demonstrate excellent wet braking behavior, and win fans with their reliable tracking and steering precision, the regional travel tires stand out with great mileage performance, even wear, and excellent handling and wet grip properties over the entire service life. Both bus tires have the EU label rating "A" for wet grip.

All 3rd generation Continental tires are based on a retreadable premium carcass with reinforced steel cord beads, and are regroovable. The patented AirKeep® inner liner minimizes creeping air loss.
