Timisoara, November 19th 2012.Continental, one of the leading automotive suppliers worldwide, inaugurated its new R&D Centre on November 19th. The 30,000 square meter building accommodates over 2,000 employees and represents a 20 million Euros investment from the company's side."This R&D Centre features another important milestone in our history in Romania and it underlines the importance of our engineering and development capabilities for our global customer base," said at the event Helmut Matschi, Member of the Executive Board of Continental and President of the Interior Division.

The inauguration event brought together the Continental management team both from Romania and abroad and representatives of the local authorities: Klaus Christian Olasz, German Consul, Eugen Dogariu, Timis County prefect, Ovidiu Gant, German Minorities in Romania representative, as well as colleagues and business partners of the three Continental Automotive Divisions in Romania.

"Today's event is yet another sign of our commitment to Romania and how important it is on Continental's map.It is a big pleasure to see how both, the plant and the R&D areas are developing, and since three months, they are now combined in the same location. Being accommodated now all in one location, our collaboration will be considerably increased. The move into the same location means that processes will be faster and more efficient, making us stronger and preparing us at the same time for any challenges that might appear on our way.This building allows further growth of our development activities which currently comprise about 2,000 employees in engineering in Timisoara," declared Prof. Dr. Christian von Albrichsfeld, General Manager and Head of Research & Development Romania. "We thank our employees for their commitment and our management team, as well as the local authorities for all their support in achieving this goal", added von Albrichsfeld.
