  • Events for Ambassadors in Hanover, Frankfurt, Regensburg, and Bangalore, India

Hanover, November 7, 2012. At events at three German Continental sites and one Indian site, the international automotive supplier honored committed employees for their involvement at universities, research centers, and other educational institutions. In Germany this fall, three events will be held in Hanover, Frankfurt, and Regensburg. At an international level, the involvement of the Indian ambassadors will be recognized in Bangalore.

Continental's executive board member for Human Resources, Elke Strathmann, engages in conversation with Continental junior ambassadors in Hanover

Long before the Ambassador Program was officially kicked off in 2003, Continental employees were involved in educational institutions; today, more than 600 Continental employees, referred to as Ambassadors, represent the international automotive supplier worldwide. Using research projects, lectures, company presentations, university fairs and much more, the ambassadors initiate and shape the dialogue between business and science at more than 250 universities around the world.

Projects of the Ambassador Program include the sponsoring of national as well as international teams at the Formula Student Germany and the fan festivals with public viewing at universities during the UEFA EURO 2012™ and the 2014 FIFA World Cup™.

The investments in talents are longer but more important than others. In fact, the reason why Continental made such success is mostly due to their creative and responsive employees. “People attract people”, only when you have satisfied employees you could
Continental is doing well so as her parent company, Schaeffler group. Both giant corporates are hiring more staff instead of laying off employees. For Schaeffler group, due to the expansion in Hungary, she is going to hire around 500 staff more coming.
Our future as always lies with our young people. It is great to see companies like Continental AG and it's largest individual shareholder The Schaeffler Group both working to provide apprenticeship's and education for them. Being part of a programme with such companies that operate globally also opens up whole new worlds to them rather than just seeking employment within their own countries. Continental is expanding continuously and is currently concentrating on the BRIC countries as is Schaeffler, although I did notice very specifically at present they are investing well in Asia with a planned investment in India of €150 million over the next 3/4 years for expanding existing plants at Pune, Hosur and Vadodara plus building green field plant at Savli, near Vadodara. Also they are expanding their factory in Hungary, creating around 700 extra jobs. I read in their report that according to the HR department the experiences of the workers there is really good, especially concerning motivation. The future is bright for these young people thanks to companies like these.
