CONVERGYS : CELEBRATES 10 YEARS IN BELFAST

(Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK: May 15, 2015) Convergys, a global leader in customer management, today, hosted an event to mark its 10th anniversary operating in the city, attended by senior leadership, local dignitaries and clients.

Since opening its first contact centre in Belfast, with just 35 employees in 2005, Convergys has grown its presence to now employ almost 1,900 people across sites in both the East and West of the city. Working with well known companies in telecommunications, financial services, utilities and media brands, the company provides a range of sales, customer retention and care services into the UK, Ireland and globally. Worldwide, Convergys employs approximately 125,000 people and operates 150 locations in 31 countries.

Today's Belfast event was attended by local dignitaries, including the Northern Ireland Minister for Employment and Learning, the Deputy Lord Mayor of Belfast, members of Convergys' European and local leadership teams, as well as representatives from the clients served by the Convergys sites in Belfast.

Celebrations took place across the 2 sites, whilst the main event occurred at the company's Loughview site, which was opened in 2013. This included speeches and the presentation of long service awards to employees who have been with the company since it opened its first contact centre in Belfast.
In total, Convergys has three contact centres in Northern Ireland, employing a further 300 people in Derry/Londonderry, a site that was opened last year.

Employment and Learning Minister Dr Stephen Farry, said: "I am pleased to join in with Convergys' ten year celebrations and to see their continued success. I was here in October 2013 when this building opened and my department is working with Convergys supporting their commitment to grow their workforce, their business and in turn the Northern Ireland economy.

"My Department through Assured Skills worked with management to develop the training for new staff members. The training has provided an opportunity for the staff to develop transferable skills that will stand them in good stead to progress their future careers.
