UltimateYou: Mammut launches pilot project for customizable jacket designs

Seon, May 24, 2018 - On May 25, 2018, Mammut is launching UltimateYou, a pilot project for customizable soft shell jackets. Consumers will be able to use an online configurator to design their own personalized jacket, choosing from over 25,000 possible combinations. Thereby the Swiss outdoor company Mammut earns a pioneering status in its industry. The pilot will be launched exclusively in Switzerland and is limited to 200 jackets.

Digitalization and automation are penetrating various industries and the outdoor sector is no exception. The trend for customization allows companies such as Mammut to explore completely new opportunities for personalized products. When a consumer customizes a jacket online, the manufacturer will automatically receive a detailed production order including the complete pattern and can then produce this one-off garment in just a few weeks. Mammut's aim in launching the pilot project is to build up valuable experience in the areas of customization, configuration, material management and individual production. On successful completion of the pilot phase, an unlimited global roll-out is being considered.

Swiss technology, European production

The customization pilot project will run for a maximum of six weeks, with a limited number of 200 soft shell jackets - 100 for women and 100 for men. UltimateYou will be available exclusively in the Swiss market during this period. Switzerland has deliberately been chosen as the test market in tribute to Mammut's Swiss roots, dating back to 1862 and a ropeworks in the canton of Aargau. The jackets will be produced entirely in Europe and delivered directly to consumers' homes no later than four weeks after their design. Over 25,000 possible combinations

Consumers can use the online configurator to create their own customized version of a Mammut classic, the Ultimate V SO Jacket, and personalize it with embroidered details. Each jacket can be customized with a feature set - consisting of hood, side ventilation, thumb loops - as well as special designs. Customers can choose from a selection of basic designs and colors to create their garment, as well as adding highlights with different colors of zippers and hood drawstrings. The configuration process even allows users to fine-tune the fit, by tailoring the length of the sleeves and torso to their personal measurements. The jacket will be available from CHF 349.00.
