FINDLAY, Ohio, July 25, 2014 - Overland Journal, the publication for worldwide vehicle-supported expedition and adventure travel, has awarded the Cooper Discoverer A/T3 light truck tire its Editor's Choice and Value Award, as reported in the Summer 2014 issue. Overland Journal put the Discoverer A/T3 through the ultimate proving grounds during a head-to-head test with seven of the most popular all-terrain tires, and through a comprehensive comparison of 10 different evaluation exercises, the A/T3's high-speed control, predictability and wet-pavement traction stood out at the top to showcase an impressive range of performance attributes both on and off the road.

Overland Journal's test was performed by Joe Bacal, a professional driver skilled in testing off-highway vehicles. As a former lead evaluation specialist for Toyota, and a Baja 250, 500 and 1000 winner with Team Lexus, Bacal is regarded as one of the foremost four-wheel drive performance evaluators in the United States. He pushed the tires to the limit and assessed which all-terrain products exceled through dirt and pavement testing.

"We are gratified that Overland Journal recognized the innovative features, performance and value of the A/T3 to give it the Editor's Choice and Value Award," said Scott Jamieson, Cooper's Director of Product Management. "Since its debut, this tire has become one of Cooper's most sought-after light truck tires. The success of the Discoverer A/T3, coupled with this accolade, is evidence of our focus on crafting quality tires that perform and meet the real-life performance needs of consumers." According to Scott Brady, Chief Evaluator and Publisher of Overland Journal, "The A/T3 demonstrated superior ride quality, NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) and skid pad handling; it cannot be overstated how well the tire performed overall on the pavement. In the end, the Cooper Discoverer A/T3 was also the overwhelming champ at speed on the dirt as well. After a controlled 75-mph drift on the gravel oval, Joe Bacal summed the tire up as 'ridiculously fast.' The Cooper is smooth and effective at speed, with limited oversteer and no notable overshoot upon countersteer," he said.

The success of the Discoverer A/T3 is attributed to its aggressive five-rib all-terrain design, silica based tread compound and dual draft tread element walls, lateral groove protectors and broken center rib. These prominent features also landed the Discoverer A/T3 on Overland Journal's in-house vehicle, a Land Rover Range Rover Sport.

Highlights from the data collection performed by Overland Journal prove that on pavement, the Discoverer A/T3 behaves more like a performance tire, showing consistently fast speeds on wet and dry courses that match-up to its grip, control and response on the dirt track. In addition, the tire's modern tread design exhibits a strong, shouldered structure, leading to excellent lug integrity and stone ejection, significantly improving off road traction.
