Corbion Steps Up Again For Harvesters And The KC Community

10/27/2017

Global food ingredients leader takes action locally, building on its tradition of partnering to support the community it calls its North American home.

Every year for the past 6 years, employees at Corbion have opened their hearts and wallets, then rolled up their sleeves, to help Harvesters - the area's only Feeding America Food Bank - ease hunger in Kansas City. With North American regional headquarters in Lenexa, Kan., the international industry leader in food ingredients will 'Pack It Up for Harvesters' on Friday, Nov. 3, at its distribution center in Grandview, Mo.

Corbion's annual fund drive combines employees' monetary contributions with a corporate gift to purchase food donations, which Harvesters distributes to the hungry across the metropolitan area during the holidays. At the Nov. 3 event, more than 100 Corbion employees will also give their time to help pack up those donations for delivery to Harvesters. This year's goal is to pack more than 10,000 boxes of food.

Since 2011, through its support of Harvesters Food Bank, Corbion has provided well over a quarter of a million meals to Kansas City area families in need.

'We are so grateful for our corporate partners like Corbion,' says Valerie Nicholson-Watson, president and CEO of Harvesters. 'Packing 10,000 holiday boxes means that hungry families in our community will be able to have a wonderful holiday meal. Thank you, Corbion!'

'We believe the strength of Corbion's roots in the Kansas City community contributes to our strength as a global player in the food industry,' said Andy Muller, executive vice president Biobased Ingredients, Corbion. 'Partnering with companies and organizations passionate about feeding the world is what we do, and working with Harvesters gives us a more personal, hands-on way to do that close to home.'

If your company or organization would like to pack Holiday Boxes for Harvesters this season, please contact Harvesters' Food Drive team at (816) 929-3055 or fooddrive@harvesters.org.
