GLOBAL NEWS AND CORUS RADIO INVITE TORONTO TO PARTICIPATE IN
THIRD ANNUAL #GREATERTORONTODAY WEDNESDAY, MAY 16

Random Acts of Kindness to Occur Throughout the GTA for the Day
Officially Proclaimed by The City of Toronto

For Immediate Release

TORONTO, May 8, 2018 - Global News Toronto hosts its third annual Greater Toronto Day on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, in keeping with the spirit of its brand promise, Global News Believes in a Greater Toronto. The station again joins forces with Toronto-based Corus Radio stations, 102.1 the Edge, Q107 and Global News Radio 640 Toronto.

Greater Toronto Day focuses on making the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) a better place to live through an active and engaging social media campaign. GTA residents are encouraged to participate by performing small acts of kindness and sharing them on social media with the hashtag #GreaterTorontoDay. Three social media posts across Twitter, Instagram or Facebook will be chosen at random for their author to receive $1,000 toward a local charity of their choice. The acts of kindness can be as small as buying the next person in line a coffee, paying a stranger's TTC fare or donating to a local food bank.

'In light of an extremely difficult few weeks for the city of Toronto, we feel that the spirit and positivity Greater Toronto Day brings couldn't come at a better time,' said Jackie Moss, National Director, Promotions and Marketing for Corus Ent. 'At Corus it's always been of the utmost importance for us to be active in our communities and spread goodwill.'

Global News and Corus Radio will lead the way for Greater Toronto Day with talent and staff from across all brands surprising and delighting people in the GTA with acts of kindness. Coverage of Greater Toronto Day will air in a special Global News at 5:30 & 6 p.m. on May 16 with the broadcast highlighting acts from the day.

Additional Greater Toronto Day coverage will be featured on Global News' The Morning Show, News at Noon and Global News at 11 p.m., as well as on radio programs from 102.1 the Edge, Q107 and Global News Radio 640 Toronto.Globalnews.ca will also feature extensive content, interviews, videos and social media highlights so viewers can catch up on all of the action online.
