On 20th June, COSCO SHIPPING's semisubmersible vessel MV XIANG RUI KOU successfully installed the super heavy topside through the DP positioning for the first time, which makes another new breakthrough in company's business of 'Transportation + Installation'. MV XIANG RUI KOU sets several new records at this time, including loading the heaviest lateral ro-ro cargo in the world by the 50,000DWT semisubmersible vessel, and installing the heaviest cargo by DP positioning, etc.
At local time 11:48 am, by precise guidance of MV XIANG RUI KOU's dynamic positioning system, the super heavy topside, which was 18,500mt in weight, 171 meters in length, 58 meters in breadth and 118 meters in height, was mating with jacket in the sea. Afterwards, MV XIANG RUI KOU started ballasting and load transferring. The total weight was transferred to the jacket and the safety clearance was made between the topside and the lower support frame. Later on, the stern of MV XIANG RUI KOU started moving out from KBB jacket, safely cleared from the topside, and the installation was successfully completed.
For accomplishing this mission in early April, MV XIANG RUI KOU has started to install the DP system and to prepare the grillage and main deck for lateral ro-ro operation. On 13th May, the DP sea trial was completed, which marks the accomplishment of the DP installation project.
This mission of transporting world's super heavy topside shows again the 'Exceptional Capability and Excellent Service' of COSCO SHIPPING. Simultaneously, it enhances the competitiveness as well as the brand influence of the company. Stakeholders of this transportation then sent congratulations. They all expressed that COSCO SHIPPING is a highly reliable company and they would look forward to the further cooperation with it in the future.
