Recent research conducted by Vitality Health[1] has revealed that long commutes appear to have a significant impact on mental wellbeing, increasing the risk of stress. Looking to reduce the stress of their daily commute, Faye White (34) and fiancé Rick Fullman (32) have recently purchased a two bedroom apartment at Countryside's popular Kings Park development in Essex, situated adjacent to Harold Wood Station and on Crossrail's eastern section.

Faye, a Group Finance Manager and Rick, a Recruitment Finance Director in central London, started looking for a new home after receiving a serviced notice on Faye's rented one-bedroom flat in Brentwood. Faye explains: 'Location was one of the main factors why we chose Kings Park. Rick has quite a stressful job in the capital, which requires long hours and I also work long hours, so we wanted somewhere low maintenance and with an easy commute. With Kings Park being within Zone 1-6, Rick's commute to Farringdon now takes just 45 minutes, is £140 cheaper and stress free. Also with Crossrail now open between Shenfield and Liverpool Street, we now have an even better rail service available, which will further improve from December 2019 when the service fully opens.'

'Luckily, we qualified for the 40% equity loan from the government's London Help to Buy scheme, which was pivotal in us being able to purchase our new home. This meant we didn't have to compromise on our desired location in a Zone 6 London Borough, living space or our lifestyle quality, which would have ordinarily commanded a larger deposit sum.'

Faye continues: 'We did consider renting again, however upon doing some research we found that buying through London Help to Buy was more cost efficient. The fact that it is 0% interest for 5 years and then 1% after that, really drew us in. It also allowed us to buy a two bedroom apartment, which was considerably bigger than we could have afforded without the scheme. We worked out that when Rick and I were renting separately, he was paying £1300 per month, and I was paying £895 a month. Our mortgage is now £690, a massive saving in comparison. We worked out that between us over a 5 year period, we had spent over £100k renting!'

Faye concludes: 'Living at Kings Park has gone above and beyond my expectations. The build quality is excellent and the landscaping is really beautiful, it's a very relaxing and calm place to live. In the future, I would definitely consider moving to another new build by Countryside. Although we chose the area of Harold Wood for commuting and investment purposes, there are so many advantages to buying a new build home, the Help to Buy scheme being just one. In terms of stress levels, we didn't want to be renovating or decorating on our few days off each week. It has been such a pleasant experience to move in to a brand new shiny apartment.'

Kings Park offers an impressive collection of homes, designed to a high quality, contemporary specification. Each home features sleek kitchens with fully integrated appliances and flooring is included throughout. Benefiting from a beautiful parkland setting, with tree-lined avenues and green open spaces, the development offers an outstanding lifestyle in an excellent commuter location.

The development is within easy walking distance of a great range of local amenities, including a Post Office, supermarket, bakery and restaurant. Nearby Brentwood is home to a wider selection of bars and eateries, high street and independent boutiques.

Perfect for commuters, Harold Wood station is just a short walk away from Kings Park, providing quick and easy journeys into Central London. Once fully launched, Crossrail will be accessible from Harold Wood station and reduce journey times by up to 19 minutes.

Prices start at £299,995 for a one-bedroom apartment and £365,000 for a two-bedroom apartment. All the apartments are available to purchase through the London Help to Buy scheme.
