Faye, a Group Finance Manager and Rick, a Recruitment Finance Director in central London, started looking for a new home after receiving a serviced notice on Faye's rented one-bedroom flat in Brentwood. Faye explains: 'Location was one of the main factors why we chose Kings Park. Rick has quite a stressful job in the capital, which requires long hours and I also work long hours, so we wanted somewhere low maintenance and with an easy commute. With Kings Park being within Zone 1-6, Rick's commute to Farringdon now takes just 45 minutes, is £140 cheaper and stress free. Also with Crossrail now open between Shenfield and Liverpool Street, we now have an even better rail service available, which will further improve from December 2019 when the service fully opens.'

'Luckily, we qualified for the 40% equity loan from the government's London Help to Buy scheme, which was pivotal in us being able to purchase our new home. This meant we didn't have to compromise on our desired location in a Zone 6 London Borough, living space or our lifestyle quality, which would have ordinarily commanded a larger deposit sum.'

Faye continues: 'We did consider renting again, however upon doing some research we found that buying through London Help to Buy was more cost efficient. The fact that it is 0% interest for 5 years and then 1% after that, really drew us in. It also allowed us to buy a two bedroom apartment, which was considerably bigger than we could have afforded without the scheme. We worked out that when Rick and I were renting separately, he was paying £1300 per month, and I was paying £895 a month. Our mortgage is now £690, a massive saving in comparison. We worked out that between us over a 5 year period, we had spent over £100k renting!'

Faye concludes: 'Living at Kings Park has gone above and beyond my expectations. The build quality is excellent and the landscaping is really beautiful, it's a very relaxing and calm place to live. In the future, I would definitely consider moving to another new build by Countryside. Although we chose the area of Harold Wood for commuting and investment purposes, there are so many advantages to buying a new build home, the Help to Buy scheme being just one. In terms of stress levels, we didn't want to be renovating or decorating on our few days off each week. It has been such a pleasant experience to move in to a brand new shiny apartment.'
